Google
is
partnering
with
Indian
mobile
makers
to
launch
affordable
smart-phones
with
Android
One,
in
India
on
September
15,
to
increase
Android's
market
and
get
middle
class
consumers
hand
set
on
the
smart-phones.
Google
provides
key
hardware
parts
for
the
companies
to
use
when
building
the
devices
and
will
push
Android
updates.
The
main
objective
of
this
is
to
create
low-budget
Android
Smart-phones,
which
will
be
built
by
Micromax,
Karbonn
and
Spice.
Android Chief Sundar Pichai said Pichai the “Android One program was part of an effort to reach 'the next billion people' with an Android device. In markets such as India feature phones still hold a majority of the market.”
The
Android
smart-phones
will
be
soon
ready
to
give
the
Indian
consumers
an
affordable
and
feature
rich
phones
that
will
have
latest
Android
operating
system.
One
of
the
first
smart
phone
to
be
launched
under
this
project
will
be
Micromax
which
will
have
a
4.5
inch
display,
dual
SIM
support,
MicroSD
card
support
and
FM
radio
and
the
costing
will
be
starting
below
$100.
Neil
Mawston,
a
UK-based
analyst
at
Strategy
Analytics
has
said
"A
major
threat
for
Samsung
is
that
Android
One
will
accelerate
the
race
to
the
bottom
on
smartphone
pricing,
Android
One
now
makes
Google
a
foe,
not
just
a
friend,
for
Samsung."
For
Google,
a
strong
comeback
of
Android
One
smart-phones
will
have
access
to
the
Internet
in
terms
of
apps
support,
Android
OS
updates
and
the
smart-phones
will
be
getting
frequent
updates,
they
are
also
planning
to
provide
affordable
telecom
service
packages
with
the
smart-phones.
