Our PSD to PrestaShop services turn a finished store design into a working PrestaShop theme: home page, category listings, product pages, cart and checkout. Brainguru codes your Photoshop, Figma or Sketch layouts by hand, builds them into a child or custom theme, and connects the modules your shop needs to take orders.
What a PrestaShop conversion covers
An online store has more page types than a brochure site, and each one has states a design file rarely shows. A product can be out of stock, on sale, available in three sizes or missing an image. A category can hold two products or two thousand. A conversion has to handle all of these, not just the ideal screenshot.
- Store templates: Home, category, search results, product, cart, checkout, customer account, order history and the content pages.
- Theme set-up: The design is built as a theme that follows PrestaShop's structure, so core updates do not overwrite your changes.
- Modules: Menus, sliders, reviews, filters, newsletters and payment or shipping modules are placed into the design's hooks and styled to match.
- Catalogue display: Product images, variations, prices, taxes and stock messages appear the way the design intends.
- Languages and currencies: Layouts are tested with longer translated text and with each currency you sell in.
Why choose PrestaShop for your store?
PrestaShop is open-source e-commerce software that you host yourself. You own the code and the data, and it handles several languages, currencies and stores from one back office. That makes it a common choice for shops selling across borders.
It is a smaller ecosystem than the market leaders, which matters when you hire developers or choose modules. W3Techs reported on 5 November 2026 that PrestaShop runs 0.5% of all websites and 2.8% of the e-commerce systems it detects. The HTTP Archive Web Almanac 2025 put it at 3.7% of e-commerce sites on mobile and noted its share trending down from about 4% in 2024 to 3% in 2025.
The platform itself is current. PrestaShop 9.0 was released on 10 June 2025, built on Symfony 6.4 and supporting PHP 8.1 to 8.4. It also introduced Hummingbird, a new front-office theme built with Bootstrap 5, although the release notes say it is not the default theme in version 9.
Our PSD to PrestaShop services, step by step
- Design review: We list every store template and the states that are missing, such as empty carts, sold-out products and form errors.
- Version and base theme: We agree the PrestaShop version and whether to build a child of an existing theme or a theme from scratch.
- Front-end build: Layouts are coded in clean HTML, CSS and JavaScript and tested at phone, tablet and desktop widths.
- Theme integration: The markup is moved into PrestaShop templates, and modules are placed in the right hooks.
- Catalogue and checkout: We load sample products, set up taxes, carriers and payment modules, and place real test orders.
- Testing: Browsers, devices, speed, keyboard use and the full order path are checked before launch.
- Launch and handover: We deploy the theme, set up redirects if you are replacing an older store, and show your team how to manage it.
Store speed and accessibility
A slow store loses buyers on mobile, and self-hosted platforms depend heavily on how the theme and hosting are built. In the Web Almanac 2025, 50% of PrestaShop sites had good Core Web Vitals on mobile, against 76% for Shopify, and PrestaShop's median mobile Lighthouse performance score was 36. Much of that comes from heavy themes, unoptimised images and too many modules.
We keep the theme lean, compress and size images, load scripts only where they are used, and recommend caching and hosting that suit your traffic. Fewer, better modules usually do more for speed than any plugin that promises to fix it.
Accessibility is a similar story. In the WebAIM Million 2026 study, PrestaShop home pages averaged 143.2 detected accessibility errors, 155.3% above the average across all pages, though WebAIM notes this cannot always be blamed on the platform itself. Labelled forms, visible focus states, alt text and good contrast are part of our build. For a full WCAG audit, see our accessibility testing service.
Getting found after launch
Clean templates, readable product addresses, structured headings and fast pages give search engines a good base. Rankings still depend on product content, category structure and links. If you are moving from another platform, redirects from old product and category addresses protect the traffic you already have. Our e-commerce SEO services cover that work in more depth, and our e-commerce web design team can help if the design itself needs work before conversion.
What affects the cost of a PrestaShop project?
- Template count: How many store pages have their own layout.
- Module work: Styling existing modules is quicker than customising or writing new ones.
- Catalogue complexity: Many variations, custom fields or B2B pricing add work.
- Languages, currencies and stores: Each one adds set-up and testing.
- Integrations: ERP, stock, accounting or marketplace connections.
- Migration: Moving products, customers and orders from another platform.
Prices are not published here; a free consultation with your designs and module list gives you a real estimate.
Questions to ask a PrestaShop developer
- Theme approach: Will you build a child theme or a new theme, and how will core updates be handled?
- Module choices: Which modules are free, which need paid licences, and who renews them?
- Test orders: Will every payment and shipping method be tested from basket to confirmation email before launch?
- Upgrades: How will the theme and modules move to the next PrestaShop release?
- Ownership: Do you get the full theme code, server access and module licences in your name?
Clear answers to these save rework later, whoever builds your store.
