FAQ Schema Generator (FAQPage JSON-LD)
Paste your questions and answers — or type them in — and copy clean FAQPage markup. The tool flags missing answers, duplicates and other mistakes before they reach your page.
Add a question and its answer to generate the markup.
Paste the tag into the page’s HTML (head or body). The questions and answers must also be visible on that page.
What FAQ Schema Does — and Does Not Do — in 2026
FAQ markup is still valid structured data, but its effect on Google results changed in 2023. Here is the honest picture.
Makes Q&A machine-readable
Search engines and AI systems can tell exactly which sentence answers which question, rather than guessing from layout.
Rarely shows as a Google rich result
Since August 2023 Google limits FAQ rich results to well-known government and health sites. Do not expect expandable FAQs under your listing.
Is not a ranking boost
Structured data helps search engines understand a page; it does not make an unhelpful page rank. The answers themselves have to be useful.
Create FAQ Markup in 4 Steps
Start from the FAQs already on your page
Paste them into the import box using Q: and A: lines, or one question per line ending in a question mark with its answer below.
Fix the warnings
Every question needs an answer, answers should be complete sentences, and the same question should not appear twice.
Copy the script tag
Paste it into the same page that shows those questions and answers. Keep the text identical to what visitors read.
Test and monitor
Check the page in Google's Rich Results Test, then watch Search Console. For other schema types use the Schema Markup Generator.
FAQ Content That Helps Readers and AI Answers
- Use the words people search with. Search Console's query report shows the questions that already bring visitors to the page.
- Answer in the first sentence. Then add the detail. AI assistants and featured snippets tend to quote the opening sentence.
- One question, one answer. Split compound questions; keep each answer self-contained.
- Keep it current. Prices, dates and rules go stale — update the visible text and the markup together.

FAQ Schema: Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ schema is structured data, written in JSON-LD using the schema.org FAQPage type, that tells search engines and AI systems which text on a page is a question and which is its answer. It does not change what visitors see.
Probably not. Since August 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. For other sites the markup is still valid and can still be read by Google, Bing and AI systems, but it will not create the expandable FAQ snippet in Google results.
Where a page genuinely has questions and answers, yes: it costs little, states the Q&A structure unambiguously, and keeps your content machine-readable for search and AI assistants. Do not add FAQs to a page only to have something to mark up.
Yes. Google's guidelines require the marked-up content to be visible to users on the same page. Markup describing text visitors cannot see is a structured-data spam signal and can lead to a manual action.
Anywhere in the page's HTML — in the head or the body. In WordPress use a header/footer code plugin or your SEO plugin's custom schema field; in other CMSs use a custom HTML block. Use one FAQPage block per page.
Use Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema.org validator. After publishing, the Search Console enhancements report shows whether Google parsed the FAQ items on the pages it crawled.
